The original Mass effect was never going to be in my top ten games ever, as i have a concentration span of something near a few seconds.

Look a squirrel.

But the voice cast for Mass Effect 2 shows that Bioware are really putting together an all out game motion picture. Voice acting is now more essential to a game that it once was (Assassins Creed 2, take note) so to see that Bioware have spent the running costs of a small African nation on actors, shows their intent to outdo maybe even Uncharted.

List follows:

  • Martin Sheen (“The West Wing”, “Apocalypse Now”)
  • 2009 Emmy Award-winner Shohreh Aghdashloo (“House of Saddam”)
  • Comedic actor Seth Green (“Austin Powers”).
  • “Chuck” stars Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin, Keith David (“Crash”)
  • Michael Dorn (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”)
  • Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica”)
  • Michael Hogan (“Battlestar Galactica”)
  • Carrie-Anne Moss (“The Matrix”).

The head honcho of Bioware, Dr. Ray Muzyka, shouted the following at me about the voice acting after I pushed in front of him in Starbucks (i love my mochas):

“Credible, powerful personalities are vital to delivering a compelling story experience in BioWare’s games, and we have assembled an amazing ensemble cast that surpasses the very high bar set in the original Mass Effect!”

I tend to agree with everything that he is saying here and how monotone Italian actors really do not add to a games compelling story experience.

With Modern Warfare 2 recently out the door, it only seems fitting for another war themed FPS to be announced. EA has let it be known that its Medal of Honour franchise will be entering the 21st century in war-torn Afghanistan. The new game, suitably named, Medal of Honour, will let the player take control of a Tier 1 Operator, “a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle.”

PSP Price Drop – Go Get Cheaper

November 30, 2009 News Comments

This was always on the horizon following the slow sales of the PSP Go, the controversial change from UMD’s to well….nothing, was not taken very well by the gaming public.

So it is welcome news that the newest toy on the market has taken not just a price cut, but a price slash and been reduced to £148.99. Is this a bargain to you?

This drop is only at HMV however who seem to be trying to push the console for the Christmas frenzy as part of the fight with other online retailers.

This morning I was scanning the Australian Certification Board, they be the ones that rate the games and say if its allowed for release, and i came across some pretty amazing names for dvds and games. Games that i didn’t know existed or were even going to exist. So this got me thinking, what if there are games that are being released, that nobody ever mentions. Of course there were the big games on this list, the Mass Effect and Just Cause sequels shining the faces over the board (the both have a MA 15+ by the way) but it was more the smaller games.

So this will be the first of my random nuggets on games that i have found:Networking 070

First game I am going to look at is the Legend of Exidia. Why have I not heard of this, and why am I thinking DS game straight away?

Right , in the words of the narrator from pushing daisies, the facts are these:

  • Legend of Exidia is a game in production by Gameloft. They make some of the best games on the iPhone and have been making mobile device games for years now.
  • Legend of Exidia, according to GamerBytes they think that it could be one of two ideas. God of war style, or a zelda knock off. I would be happy if they combined the two, that game would be kick ass.
Link can never catch a break.

Link can never catch a break.

What should be said and what the picture above infers, is that Zelda mixed with Kratos would be a kick ass mix. Imagine the new and improved fishing engine in Zelda where you actually dive in after the fish and completely and utterly catch them with pure rage. How about Kratos has to stop every now and then to heard some sheep, not so cool , but you get the idea.

When I finally learn what the game is about, this post will get updated, gameloft, get in touch!!

The Fort

Uncharted 2, possibly the best action adventure game since Uncharted 1, has got some DLC coming at you this Friday (that be the 27th November). Those kind chaps at Naughty Dog let rip on the twitter this afternoon with details that there was going to be something “awesome” being posted, but in the last few hours it has now been confirmed.

The Fort will be available on Friday and is a throwback to the fort level in the original Uncharted, so Drake veterans will be able to gun down foes on this familiar landscape.
