Fuzzle – iPhone

The first thing you’ll notice about Candy Cane’s Fuzzle is it’s extreme lack of fuzzyness. It is about as hairy as a snake. I can only conclude that the name inherits from a combination of the words fun and puzzle and it is indeed a fun, puzzle game. Fuzzle is a turn based game that requires the player to move balls around the screen in order to line up five or more balls of the same colour and make them disappear. The aim of the game is to survive as long as possible before the screen is completely covered in balls. Each turn more balls are added to the screen based on how long you took to take the previous go so you’re racing against the clock as well. Points are awarded as you play with bonuses for big combos.

The most useful tool while puzzling is the bomb ball. When combined it will remove any corresponding coloured ball off the screen and more often than not save your hide when game over is looming. The rainbow ball is also a nifty trick as it can be used as any colour. As far as power ups go thats your fill, the rest is up to you match your way through 30 levels with local and global leader boards for score comparison. As an added bonus if you’re in a festive mood you can turn on the Christmas theme and change all the balls into baubles. Ding dong merrily on high.

If you are a fan of games such as Bejewelled and Puzzle Bobble then Fuzzle should be right up your street. The game has appropriate clear audio, decent graphics and an addictive edge. The inclusion of a time incentive on each turn is an arguable decision, the game might be better suited to a slower pace allowing time to think ahead to the next move and plan ahead. That is just a matter of personal opinion though. Fuzzle is no ground breaking sensation but its certainly worth a play for any keen puzzlers. Its 3.5 yellow sequin bow ties out of 5 from me.
