Do-It – iPhone

January 20, 2010 Reviews Written by Spanjj

“Flick it! Pull it! Twist it! Press it! Shake it!”

That might of sounded true of a certain ‘Bop It’ game we all know very well, at least until we get to the ‘press it’ part. Essentially ‘Do-It’  is Bop It for the iPhone with a couple of additions to the gameplay. Those unfamiliar with Bop It are also unfamiliar with the invention of sliced bread but I have provided a diagram either way. The handheld game from Hasbro that was released in 1996 requires the player to manipulate the various controls upon instruction to do so. Failure results in game over and the declaration of the players score which is the amount of actions you successfully completed in a row. A simple concept that makes an addictive game.

Do-it recreates Hasbro’s invention for the iPhone platform but replaces ‘Bop It’ with ‘Press It’, ‘Twist It’ with ‘Flip It’ (turn the device upside down) and ‘Spin It’ with ‘Shake It’ (exactly what it says on the tin). The user gets a point for every correct move and the score correlates to your level and the higher that is the faster you need to be. You have the option to have visual, voice or effect notifications on actions and also to have the music on or off which is always a plus. The game is also compatible with Facebook so you can post scores on your wall and rightly so, the world needs to know the extent of your ‘Do-It’ skills (thats almost dirty).

The graphics are decent, nothing too flashy needed really and the audio is of good quality. Its a rework of a classic and a nice and easy pick up and play game that should have you gunning for high scores. With a price tag of nothing its definitely worth a download. If I had to be picky I’d say the shaking action should require a little less force and it would be easy to put some multiplayer action in there, no bluetooth required just pass the device.

I like Do-It, I liked doing it. Sexy. Its a very decent 3.5 Ukrainian pipes out of 5 from me.

I agree this game is addictive (if frustrating when you have to restart on the slower levels) and well worth the asking price of gratis. Good review.

This game would be improved massively if it was available on Android.
